What's even funnier is that you will not find a 335d/535d/X5d with a manual transmission ANYWHERE in Europe unless the owner removed the automatic transmission and installed his own. It's not an option in Germany or Italy, so that's why I am asking.

I went to the dyno yesterday, but the results are extremely disappointing (most likely to do with a 90 mile drive to get there). The car was likely heat soaked, and it definitely affected the torque #'s, and a little bit of the HP #'s, too.

I plan another trip up that sets the car up better for more accurate runs.

Dyno

We would still like to hear the results. Heat soaked or not, what kind of numbers did you pull? Have you changed your intake or is just the computer flash?
I have a 2011 335d and I am thinking of going with the JBD if it's a unit that I can remove before I drop it off for service so that it's undetectable for warranty issues.
I don't need anything extreme. just something that makes a noticeable difference that is safe for the motor.

^Yes, I'm in the same boat with you, Billy. And I'd prefer not to have to search this whole site for more info on the JBD.

I am on my second 335d in uk and both have been remapped by dms automotive to 345bhp and 540 lbft torque. Max torque from 1750 rpm with a quick shifting auto box, nothing can touch it. They are awesome when remapped.

Everything you need to know is on my website. And most of the reviews are on BMS' website. Summary: JBD is a must do easy to install/remove mod. No hidden codes at default settings.

I just got my VAC module back from them. They upgraded the firmware to their power tune for me.

Do you know if the harness for the JBD and VAC modules are the same? If so, it's a simple plug and play to get some dyno runs for comparison.

Where is OE Tuning?

Regarding fault codes, JBD did initially at 100%, when I first got it. I dialed it down to about 85%, drove the car for a week, pushed it to 90%, drove for another week, 95%, etc. 100% no longer gives me codes, and we know that @ 100%, my car gets about 310HP to the wheels (with a 245HP stock value). Tomorrow, we find out how much torque the car pushes stock, with JBD, and with another vendor's tune (I'm not 100% on whether or not I'm going to release those #'s yet).

VAC should be sending me their module fairly soon, and OE Tuning will be hopefully testing their flash pretty soon, as well, on my car.

The dyno shootout, unfortunately, got postponed indefinitely, due to some issues that I'm not going to drag out here (they're not my issues to drag out), but now that I've found a shop that can give us #'s (OE Tuning can, too, so at least Jeremy and I can get real-time feedback), a 60 mile trip is all it takes.

Demanding results isn't going to get you anywhere. I'm not going to misrepresent the car, or the tunes.

Regarding 'searching the whole site', it's not that hard to find info. This thread holds quite a bit, and generally speaking, it's a good idea to go to the manufacturer and their forums to get info, too (as Mike pointed out).

The JBD is a worthy investment for the price. I will leave it at that for now.

glad to hear you now have the 335d in the us it is a fantastic car. do you have the e92 335d yet? ive tried two performance exhausts, a schnitzer made by remus, sounds no different from standard and cost a fortune, total waste of money, i currently have the 335i performance bmw one which i got at a bargain price, sounds no different from standard but makes the car a little sharper. all in all id say dont waste your money on an exhaust. mapping makes them hugely quick with massive torque, not had mine done as im happy with what its got. manual gearboxes? you can keep them, the auto in the 335 is superb and changes quicker than you ever could with a manual.

Nope..no E92 335d here, and there's no word that it's coming anytime soon, either.

e46mpwr, any updates/pictures on the VAC module?

Have you noticed increase in power/performance?

Thanks,

Received the tuning box from VAC today just before my lunch meeting. Just as I was getting ready to leave, UPS dropped it off so it l can say that I installed it in under 10min wearing a suit. Not bad for "plug and Play" but I assume the competitors are just as easy.

It was easy to notice an immediate difference in both throttle response and seat feel. As strange as it may seem, it even sounded like the motor was happier. Probably result of more HP revving up more quickly.

From what I've read, it looks like the JBD would be even more of a difference. It is tempting so maybe I'll go that route once her legs are stretched a bit. I'm in contact with VAC and it sounds like they may consider making some adjustments/stage options. For now, I can say that I am pleased knowing that its a bit more of a conservative approach as these things really haven't been tested long term. Either way, I am happy enough for now.

My wife drove tonight and was very impressed as well... For the 5min she drove

specE30Dude, why do you say the VAC is a more "conservative" approach.

I am trying to decide between JBD and VAC at the moment. Can only afford one. Does VAC have any data to substantiate increase HP/Torque and fuel economy?

The JBD offers a 14 day satisfaction guarantee. I guarantee you'll be impressed with it! PM me if you are interested and we can get you setup.

I say conservative in that I'm taking a lower risk approach. None of these are tried and tested over long periods of time and I assume there "could" be long term consequences. Going this route is my personal choice so I am not saying anyone should agree with me. If breaking something doesn't do much to your wallet then maybe its a no brainer choice...100%! I may just upgrade not far down the road but at this point, I can't afford should something go wrong. This means I would prefer that I don't see the dash light up like a x-mas tree. I've been there before..

If you're budget conscious, I would go for the JBD and crank it up as you wish. I may even be wrong altogether..Perhaps one approach to the technology is better than the other. Physics was never my strongest subject.

Does anyone know if the VAC has a history of throwing codes?

Curious, does the default setting on the JBD put out more hp/trq than the VAC out of the box?
