Same here.. Hoping for good luck next week. I'm sure we could have fixed the problem by now at my shop, but being under warranty I thought it would be easier to have BMW do it. We will see.. Updates soon!

How long will it take to put in the new turbos? I went in for the rattling wastegates and they just told me they ordered new turbos so I was just curious.

They removed my turbos yesterday and had to make adjustments to the wastegate actuator and drive it again today and see what happens. If it doesn't fix the problem, they have a set of new turbos waiting for install.
It would be a bummer if the whole time it was from a bad install on the wastegate rattle fix. Michael |

They might be paying 4x, the first time they had to remove the turbochargers for the wastegate fix, then i'm guessing they had to remove them again for the retrofit since the car had "LAG", now they are removing them to adjust them and reinstall. If this doesn't work, they will have to remove the turbos again to put on the new ones.
They have tried several things to fix the problem and nothing has worked so far. Swapping Exhaust Systems Pulling the intake manifold and check for leaks / smoke test replace HPFP test the gas in the tank and check the bottom of the tank of sediment. test all the vac lines by plugging/capping one at a time and going or a drive. (dunno) Now we are here. I just hope it's the turbochargers and I can get the car back. I'm sure the bill is going to be pretty high on this one. Lucky the car is under warranty. Updates shortly! I can't believe everything you been through, they told me today they were able to "repair" one turbo and they got a brand new one in today. Im not sure how any of this will fix the wastegate rattle but we will see.. Good luck!

Experienced the exact same problem today. The car is an 09 and the dealership flashed it with the new software and a new fuel pump (not sure if its 943 since the stealership just said it was "new") 3 weeks ago.
This is what happens: the car has no power from the 2.5k to 4.5k RPM range exactly, plus my air conditioner gets out a weird thump noise followed by hot air coming out of the vents for the remainder of the drive in 130F weather. Gonna scan it with the BT tool since i have been having random long cranks and the engine shut off by itself twice in the last 2 weeks giving me the 2FBF code, "Fuel pressure after motor stop". I hope i dont have to remove all the mods..., if there are any updates on your matter ETS Micheal they would help. Ill keep you guys posted.

I will keep you posted when it gets resolved. I'm trying my best to document everything so it doesn't happen to anyone else. I think BMW NA is using my car to figure out the problem with and giving the dealership random labor work to hold them over. We will see though.

Hey Michael i opened up the ECU box to remove the JB3 for service and two of the 02 Simulator pins were loose, so i removed the chip, fixed the Simulator pins and tried the car again, there was no more lag, but the AC is still broken so gotta get it to the dealership for that.
Good Luck with your car man.

The car is bone stock, unless I have a hidden JB3 They got approval today from BMW NA to replace the turbochargers. So the new turbos will be on and tomorrow they will drive the car. We will see what happens. ** CROSS FINGERS **

I just got my 2007 335i back from service. It threw an engine malfunction and was making noise. They replaced a vanos solenoid and flashed the car for the waste-gate noise.
Its like someone cut it's balls off and walked away with the turbos. The car has no bottom end torque and the rocketing feeling is gone. The car is absolute shit to drive. Hit the pedal and wait 5 seconds for the car to respond. Talking it back ASAP. I was thinking of upgrading to the 335is, but if this is how BMW handles defects, by covering it up with software, then I don't want anything to do with BMW. |

If you experience the lag problem, BMW can do another update where they retrofit the wastegates to resolve the lag issue. You just have to complain. It's also in the TSB posted above towards the middle. You can also use my invoice as an example since they did the 3 fixes on mine.

Alright, So I just got the car back after a month of dealer service work. It looks like replacing the turbochargers fixed the problem! Below is a copy of the invoice that I received with the work performed. Hopefully no one has this problem in the future, but just in case! My car was built in 2006 and the turbochargers they just installed seem to be a bit louder then the previous turbochargers, the car also pulls harder, but I don't think they were working properly before.
Last Invoice Previous Invoice Sorry for the sideways scan. |

You have no idea how much this just helped me out...I have the waste gate rattle but deciding not to take it to the dealer because I'm getting the EPL turbos installed this weekend and I needed the part number for the actuators because my dealer said they didn't sell them separate from the the entire unit....which i know is BS anyway....thanks so much for posting that warranty sheet
