I sent a email to BMW Waterloo and this is the reply I just got back. BMW Canada has extended the warranty on the Fuel Pump to 10 years or 200,000kms,whichever occurs first.
I ran your serial number through the warranty system and it does not seem to be affected by the fuel pump issue, there is no update on the programming or the part on your particular serial number so hopefully you will not encounter any problems with it. Let me know if I can be of further assistance, |

This is the reply I got from BMW Canada. Thank you very much for contacting BMW Canada.
As a courtesy we have checked your vehicle (Last seven of the VIN xxxxxx) and found that there are no extensions noted on your vehicle. BMW USA (BMW North America) does have different extensions for items for their market, just like we cover items that sometimes they would not in their market. We hope to see you as a loyal customer for many years to come and encourage you to speak with the Service Manager at your local BMW Retailer for potential assistance if some issues do surface. Sincerely, Matthew Customer Interaction Specialist BMW Canada |

I've dealt with the phone customer service. They basically go with what the dealership says. They are not of much help but are super nice, so i feel bad yelling at them.

According to the TSB letter, all subsequent owners are indeed covered up to 10 years or 200,000km, whichever comes first. As of today BMW Canada has admitted to the existence of the TSB. Please make your HPFP issues known to transport Canada. They have opened an investigation as of this pas Weds.

Yes, there is: Transport Canada: Road Safety. They specifically asked that I post this number online 1-800-333-0510. When I told them that their existence is not exactly known nor are they particularly easy to contact, they seemed astonished. The guy asked me if I've looked in my 'owners manual', which has this number.... I have no idea if it is actually there but no, it wasn't the first place I looked. Since the car is in the shop half the time it's not very relevant.... I keep the manual in the car.

Came across this someone posted the other day. It's signed by "BMW of North America", but has the BMW USA website on it.
So it still wouldn't work for us up here? |

Ok guys, I'm not sure if this has been updated anywhere else on the forum and frankly I'm just too lazy to search but BMW Canada has issued a recall for the HPFP as of this week. I had a service maintenance scheduled this morning for my passenger door lock (thanks to the guys on this forum I now know that it was probably the faulty door actuator that was broken) so I brought my car into Parkview BMW. While I was sitting with my service advisor and going over the details of the repair he mentioned that while they had my car (CPO 07 335 sedan bought in July) they would like to also do the BMW Recall. When I asked if this recall had anything to do with the known issue of the HPFP, my service advisor just looked at me with a smile and said "YES..... and it's about freaking time they issued this recall". He told me that recall was issued last week and that the BMW recall letters were being sent out this week to all the effected owners. So keep an eye out or call your dealership for more info!!
Hope that helps |

I've got an e-mail from Transport Canada on Nov 4, 2010 which states that BMW Canada has issued a recall for all 17,798 N54 engines registered in Canada. Recall is issued under the BMW emissions warranty so the recall is listed under Environment Canada's Canadian Environmental Protection Act and not Transport Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
I also have an e-mail dated Nov 1, 2010 from Barb Pitblado, BMW Canada's Director of Corporate Communications stating that BMW Canada has approved matching BMW NA (USA) warranty and recall for the N54 - 10 years, 200,000 km. Finally, last week I took my 335i to Calgary BMW for an oil change. The recall came up for my VIN. Even though I have not experienced any problems, they offered to update the software. As I have Dinan Stage 2 in my car, I declined the offer. |

Does anyone have a link to the recall on the Transport Canada site? I just tried looking it up and so far the site has not been updated to reflect the recall.

Some of us have talked to service advisors and have actually scheduled a time for the new HPFP to be installed. Perhaps your SA can clarify? |

Thanks for the clarification, I wasn't aware there were separate agencies for the recall, I'll try contacting them. I'm actually just doing some due dillegence before I take the 335 plunge!

Keep us in the loop if you get any info from Environment Canada. I'm interested to see where this goes as my fuel pump just died!

But my SA told me it's ONLY cover within the 4 years warranty since BMW Canada is not matching the US fuel pump warranty!
