For North Carolina Taxes & Fees:
It's not sales tax exactly, they call it Highway Use Tax, and yes, it is 3%. http://www.ncdot.org/dmv/vehicle_ser....html#Step%203 Also note, cars are part of the annual property taxes in NC. http://www.dor.state.nc.us/practitioner/property/types.html |

I once bought a pickup in Kentucky, registered it in Kentucky, and paid 5% sales tax. Before it was a year old I moved to California. When I registered the vehicle there the DMV wanted to charge me 3% more! They also charged me commercial weight fees.
