We did another run at 40 and again I got the jump but once he shifted he was gone. That GTO did not sound stock at all and I know the LS1 motor, I was stock so my 300 hp vs 400+hp when moving she will take me all day. Now off of the launch, from a dead stop maybe I might have had a chance.

I am a diesel Mechanic by trade so I know alot about engines and performance shit. I used to own a 1968 Camaro with a 454 duel carb monster and I am now working on my 1962 Nova with 383 stroker motor. You can't beat cubic inch!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, that's why we said that a stock 335i would be somewhat even or a bit behind a GTO (especially if he had some mods), but a tuned 335i would walk him.

this isn't a HP competition - look at the times these cars actually run

ls2 powered GTO's vs stock 335's are about the same - mid 13's trapping about 105mph...

a 335 with a tune will molest a stock ls2 gto - a tuned 335 is generally good for a 12 second pass - a gto is not.

I've taken plenty of GTOs at the strip, but I don't know how it will be from a roll.
It would be a good race for sure, but I believe in the 335.
I really think that if you have the JB3 then you will win.
Just don't make any stupid bets.

I have to agree with the post above that said to watch out for a nicely tuned GTO with a good driver. Most GTO's I've come across just have horrible drivers.

A GTO with the LS2 with the main boltons including LT headers, a big cam, cat-back or maybe some high flows, intake, and the proper tune for this setup along with some other American muscle mods under the hood have put these guys close to 500 whp all motor, no spray, pump gas. Many get into the 450-470 WHP range with the right boltons, tune, and cam.

Let alone the weight of the GTO, your 335i is not much lighter. I'm sure those guys have figured out a way to shave some weight off that thing. They run low 12's and sometimes even high 11's with the right mods, rubber, and driver. Those times are mostly achieved through the LS2's great top-end and with a car like this, the 335i doesn't stand a chance up top against a modded LS2.

My friend has an LS2 Vette with a ProCharger and is puttng well over 600 WHP to the ground. It's game over once the LS2 sees any form of boost whether it be a little spray or better yet a blower.

Agreed that the GTO (and 'Vette, CTS-V, & other cars with the LS2 engine) are easily modded to make huge HP/TQ, but I think most ppl here are talking about a tuned (or stock) 335i running against a stock or slightly modded (exhaust, intake, etc. only...not cams, not tuned, no TT or ProCharger) GTO.

Gotcha.

You guys should bury stock to very lightly modded GTO, but watch out when they get modded up, vroom vroom!

You guys are funny with your inaccurate info . . .

My 2004 5.7 GTO would outrun an E46 M3 (M6 or SMG). The 05 and 06s are 6.o liters with 400 bhp. With a good driver, the car can clip off high 12, low 13 1/4s. From a roll the 6.o is mean . . .

Pops, better have your best game going, if your boy can drive.

LS2 GTOs trap 107-109 stock. My LS1 GTO trapped 105 when stock.

He is right, but a V3 or JB3 car should pull this, those cars are good for 12.2-12.7 at 111-114

True...in near perfect conditions. In most runs at the track (especially in hot, humid weather), they don't do so well as they appear to suffer from heat soak very quickly. The 2 times I went to the track (once in June, '07 and once in Dec., '07), there were 6.0L GTOs running. Both ran in the high 13's-low 14's compared with my times (13.09 sec. @ 106.67mph (v1.47) and 12.81 sec. @ 110.52mph with a highest trap of 111mph...use your imagination ). I have checked DragTimes.com as well, and it seems stock GTOs typically run in the mid-high 13's @ ~107mph at most tracks; this is slower than a tuned 335i.

It's funny that timeslip happens to be at the ATCO track, the fastest 1/4 mi. track in the U.S. I would guarantee that the same car wouldn't break into the 12's at the Moroso track.

Just for your information, we ran twice and I WON BOTH TIMES!!! STOCK FOR STOCK!! and his car is the 6.0L, it doesnt matter about the power, its all about how you drive and how well you get that power to the ground!!

Good job! Now hook up that JB3 and show him what just a tune does to our cars.
BTW do we know what a JB3 does to a completely stock setup?

We ran from a DIG, (0~115)......first race was my best boost brake and i won by 1 1/2 car lengths...... everything was str8 and he thought we both launched at the sametime and he had no problems with his car on this run, but the next run was different........

Then the second race, I did a bad boost brake and launched when the rpm's were dropping down below 1500 rpm.......he got a good launch (i think he jumped the start) and it was pretty even and I think he would have beat me by a 1/4 of a car length, but then he couldnt get it into 4th and I won by like 5 or 6 car lengths...........lol........i guess a win is a win on the second race........

Nice Kyle. Are you on RFT? Completely stock? How did he reacted to the loss? From your other post , it seems like he was talking alot of crap at the time.
