Wrong. 450lbs makes a difference, obviously number's aren't everything

Trust me, it made me want a 135 even though they are so damn ugly......... until we went and raced from a stop and the RWD 1 got left in the dust. I'll take the extra weight any day and be perfectly comfortable driving to VT every weekend to go skiing. It just means I need to mod my car more

Now lets get back on topic.

Do the math: A 410whp 3800lb 335xi has the same power:weight ratio as a Xwhp 3350lb 135i.

Driving a 335xi is like having 2 200lbs passenger at all times.
May have the same power on a dyno, but it makes a big difference in a 1/4 mile.
135i with 422whp + weight mods ( wheels, tires, etc. ) = New Record for sure!

I respectfully disagree. My Xi felt identical from a weight perspective when I drove it and the rwd model. Different feel in and out of corners for sure..but you could not feel the weight diff. I don't think its hurting my in the 1/4--probably helping me get my 1.7-1.75 60 ft times and running 12.3-12.5 right off the street.

My two cents... And I can't prove this without vid,but I did have one freeway run, stock, versus a 335i stock..we stayed door to door to 120mph. FYI..

Oh gawd you too!?!? My point is, 400 whp in the east coast is not exactly 400 whp in the west coast. The variations alone between dyno to dyno can bring JPSimon's dyno numbers below 400 whp. Stock numbers can easily range from 260 to 270 whp, get my drift??

It sure is nice marketting!

I wonder how much of that hardware Shiv can realistically use. At the end of the day, both vendors sell piggy-backs, nothing more. Does one really need "space age" technology???

Weight + drive train loss on AWD vs RWD. No way in hell a 335xi stayed door to door with an 335i till 120mph. *impossible* if both parties were trying.

Actually, west coast dynos always read higher. With the sun setting later and the axial forces of the earth's rotation allow for higher dyno readings.

They are even lower in Europe.

Depends, and no one can see the future, but that additional hardware may provide useful in multiple ways. And it is hardly space age, actually common place for the last 10 years.

Yes they are hardly space age, thus the quotations on it, get it?? My point is Shiv's marketting portrays his platform being more technologically superior. It has twice the size and can run twice as fast but can he use it to its full potential?? It has so much IO two 335s can talk with each other, lol.

Gotcha on the quotes.

I beleive the intention is to note the overall package and not the processor which the other thread attempts to highlight. The additional component, excluding the processor, are there for a reason. Some may argue that it isn't needed but that is entirely debatable as you do not see other, non-N54 related, commercially distributed products simplifying to this extent.
