Yes, I did here correctly. 11:00 news also reported over 85,000 potholes filled. Drive very, very careful.

Ok, conspiracy theory: I'm thinking it may have been a toxic batch of salt that was spread across the north east and basically ate up the roadways.

Glad Im not the only one who thinks that, i see people flying on the highway not even swerving for potholes. I was doing 45mph tonight on the highway, with my high beams on, slowing down even more when approaching multiple potholes in one area i don't remember having to drive like this in the previous years

the LIE is the worst!!!! be extra careful if you drive on the HOV lane going towards Long Island as there is a patch of potholes that almost caused me and several other cars to crash after someone suddenly decided to stop! Also there's a patch of potholes before the Junction Blvd exit which causes a bunch of traffic.

I am at the point where I am not even trying to dodge them anymore. They are everywhere, whenever I drive I feel like I'm driving on an obstacle course, literally.

This past weekend there is a huge pothole on Woodhaven and Elliot Ave (Right underneath the LIRR overpass). I couldn't avoid it and bottomed out. What a horrible sound. I am not sure if they fixed it yet.

Tire/Wheel Insurance

For those of you that are damaging rims/tires how many of you have the BMW tire/wheel insurance purchased within the last 2-3 years?

How have claims with BMW going? Are they replacing tire and rims, or just tires, or what????

Thanks

I hear good things. It basically covers any damage but it's pricey - I looked into it and remember it being in the $1500 range. Basically you can get a new set for that price not oem though. Maybe someone can chime in that has it.

^^I have it only because the previous owner had purchased it and it transferred to me (lease takeover). From what I read, it's a scam. I got lucky because I get it for free. It covers iirc up to $800 and yet it costs 2x-3x that amount. And for $800 it will fix curb rash and dents and anything of that nature as well as replacing the rim. Once you use up the $800, they won't cover that and charge you. But the insurance will cover any flat tire that is repairable. But again, if the tire needs to be replaced, the price will be deducted from the $800. Not sure now if its $800 for the year or for the entire policy. Again, iirc, I believe its for the life of the policy (3 years).

+1 I hear the NNE region is bad but a few people I know from there are saying our area is now even worse.

anyone else feeling my pain? I want to seek legal action on these townships that keep enormous holes unmarked on their roadways. what the hell are they doing with our taxes?
Are these potholes avoidable? Or are they everywhere? It's so hard to see potholes sometimes and makes driving terrible. Along with rock chips in the winter!

Potholes are not avoidable. They are on every highway, parkway, main road and side street in the tri state area. Our roads are beyond patching up. Its like driving in some third world country, its a fucking joke.

+1

or at least in westchester, these potholes are WIDE. If they arent wide they are deep or both. These potholes are on the main roads also. Around here there is a main 3 lane road which only had 2 lanes available due to snow, and those 2 lanes are just filled with wheel killing potholes.

then it rains so you cant even see how deep they are. makes it very dangerous.
