I have been tracking Aida into PH since 6 a.m. this morning. I haven't seen Sirius Leader. I really don't think she's hit the west coast of CA yet. If you go to PH, take a pic of Aida for the Aida thread! She should just be arriving now.

Haha.... the Bob Hope!
I will be leaving work in an hour or so... I will roll down by the harbor and see what I can. I have no access to the commercial side, but can drive up to the water on the other side of the harbor.

But, it sure would be really cool if you can take a camera phone pic of Aida. I know sometimes it is hard to see them as you can't get very close. A guy once went to LA to take a pic of a ship for one of the threads I was on last summer and he was so far away from the ship the ship was a little bigger than the size of a pinhead in the photo. Ha. But, it was really cool anyways. |

And I will take a pic.... if I can. Cameras are a no-no on the base. They might think I am al-queda or something. I'd hate to be shipped to Guantanamo and try to explain that I am some nut interested in my car.

I am in PH... on the base, so I can get right up to the water.

PH is tiny... I could swim across it in a minute or two at it's widest point.

Yes... it is all the Navy Base. There is a portion of the base that they rent out to commercial interests.
The Air Show would be down the street at Point Magu (Naval Air Station). Port Hueneme is primarily a Naval Construction Forces (SeaBee) base, but has a deep water port.

This is a web site you will want to subscribe to now: http://shinemicro.com/Live.asp
It has free, live AIS radar tracking for the west coast of SoCal. It isn't incredibly reliable, though, but it can be useful when it works. You can keep an eye on this radar for Sirius Leader. I find that I have to go between this one and the regular AIS radar site to track these ships into PH. |

Also... I take back what I said about a two minute swim. Although not very big, it is much bigger than that. :-)

Here's an update on the coast of Mexico AIS radar. There are a lot of ships showing up on radar tonight. This is rare. Usually this radar is weak. No SL in any of the west coast ports, though. I checked SD, LA, and PH.
I am shutting down for the night and will check AIS again at 6:00 am (MST) and post any updates. Any of you night owls can register/watch shinemicro.com AIS radar. If she floats into the west coast in the middle of the night, she will probably show up on shinemicro. |

I signed up for that site and can't find the ship. Maybe it sank?

Did you sign up for shinemicro or aislive? Shinemicro is not very reliable. It's more reliable around San Diego and LA, but not always. It is hit or miss. And it is difficult to get a aislive subscription. Some people never get a aislive subscription, or it takes many days to get it activated. It is hit or miss with aislive subscriptions, too.

So, it will be interesting to see where she goes today. You can't see the port of LA's ship arrivals schedule without paying a subscription, so we will just have to follow her on ais. If you signed up for shinemicro, just keep watching, especially as she goes further north.

Hey there SPN. Yes, the free one at shinemicro.com. I had tried to get an AIS one, some time back, but never got any response? Very cool that you got it off the Mexican coast! And you are right, it should be very interesting to see which order she hits the ports.
