The write-up is well under way. It will be large. 77 pictures so far.

He is doing it like the movie producers do...send out a few teaser's before the unveiling.
Could I request a 1/4 vbox run with the new power as well if you can not access a 1/4 track in addition to the write up? If the roads are wintery where you live, just point South and drive till you find a nice clear patch. Which clutch are you going with? Mr. 5 did a ACT with good results so sounds like that one is already a proven success? Last edited by Htown09; 02-22-2010 at 01:29 PM.. |

I doubt it's nitrous. You don't need 77 pictures for nitrous.

Stock turbos with reworked internals and full bolt ons will come close to those power levels if not surpass that. Unless he says that he put different turbos on, i can't imagine it being anything other than nitrous.

If i had to guess, he definitely will give a review of the NST pulley as one of the items, but I am just guessing....I hope he has some nitrous kit in there also which I know will be safe to run on our cars if FBIS is using it....He is all about tuning the motor safely while making more power...

based on where he is running out of steam, I'd say the stock turbo's are still in place, or the upgraded units he's running (I doubt it) are choked up top as well.

+1. Also, when factoring the cost of the 335, plus engine mods, plus upgraded brakes, drivetrain, suspension, exhaust, etc., it's probably more cost effective to just buy an M3 in the first place (a car designed to handle 400+ HP without blowing itself apart)...

I said it because it’s a fact that an increase in power will put more stress on the car’s engine and other components; specifically the ALUMINUM head, turbos, transmission, differential, and brakes. Moding the N54B30 engine to produce 400HP is a 33% power increase. It’s highly doubtful that BMW over-engineered the 335 to handle 33% more power across the board.
When doing these types of mods to the N54 engine, it would probably be wise to budget an additional $2k (or more) for the inevitable head repairs that are likely to follow…
