Because it is easier to get a good launch, the x-drive has a better 0-60 time, but the 335i will over take the xi at about 135mph. Most of the numbers I see put the difference to 60 at about 0.2 seconds. Overall, there have been some great Dyno comps threaded on this site which indicates the two engines (n54 and n55) as being essentially identical in terms of output.

I weigh more than that driver though, by about 70 lbs.

After the JB3, I killed him...

So... I'm assuming the N55 would be slower then
Or DCT/no DCT, the guy was a sh!t driver.

The difference in performance stock to stock between the N54 and the N55 is, well, in the noise. Almost everything else other than the engine will be the deciding factor on any given day.

That said, the only real difference will be for those who want to tune their cars. Looks like the N55 just doesn't have the headroom of the N54.

As one tuner (after spending some time with an N55) put it: The N54 is a 400 HP motor detuned to ~300 HP from the factory. The N55 is a 360 HP motor detuned to ~300 HP from the factory.

Youre right. The Xi hooks up at launch whereas the rwd just lurches as the traction control takes over. THE most annoying thing about this car. BRUTAL

From what I hear the N55 is actually faster and has a less lag than N54. MAybe im wrong. I raced my friends N54 with intake and xpipe and we were exactly equal.

I think this is a good comparison on how fast the 335i to 0 to 60.

Was this ever resolved?

I just read online that my 2011 335i xDrive should have a 4.6 secs 0-60 time and a 13.4 quarter mile.

All this time I thought the n55 in the 2011 335i xDrive sedans were in the 5.4 sec range.

There is literally no information on this online and what scraps that come up with Google is either grossly incorrect or dated (which is how I found this thread).

Any N55 powered E90 should sprint to 60 much faster than 5.4 seconds. A commonly cited number for 6MT 330i's is 5.5 seconds, and that's NA and 5 years older

C/D always put the 335 under 5 seconds since 2007.

N55/N54 run the same from the factory in 0-60. BMWNA has a habit of giving the Xdrive models .1S 0-60 advantage in their release numbers.

Upper 4's stock would be a fair estimate for either 6MT or 6A

I like to visit this site when I'm curious on a car's sprint capability. Not sure on the accuracy. It did sway me into buying my 335i over other options.

Yeah that is where I read the 0 to 60 times! But that website seems like one of those click-bait dead end sites with fake news and misinformation!

They said a Manual/RWD 2011 335i gets 0-60 mph in 4.7 secs and takes 13.4 secs to cover a 1/4 mile.

For modern day xDrive and Automatic BMWs I've always read and heard to increase the speed by 0.1 secs for each option.

so my 2011 335i xDrive Auto should get around 4.5 secs in a 0 to 60mph run!

For a sub $50,000 BMW 3 series that is just staggering!

I had no idea my car was that FAST! It certainly doesn't feel like that.
