Bugger. Kept an opccasional eye on my lower boost hose and all dry and clean.

Just checked today and it is as in the other pics, oiling and dirty, with oily film on the undertray.

Is this accepted as a standard warranty claim ?

Seems to be accepted as a warranty claim.

Though they did ask for my car for possibly 2 days. [?] They said they have experience of it on the 5 series but not much on the 3, and want to check if it needs a hose or O ring, or both.

Booked in. Will probably just ask them to fit both anyway.

Had my hose and seal changed on this under warranty yesterday. Have to be honest and say that in the 24 mile drive to work this morning the car feels absolutely no different at all.

Nice to know it isn't spewing oil out all over the drip-tray, mind.

Mine is in on 1st July to have this sorted with Sytner High Wycombe.

Speak with Cameron Begg as he knows all about the issue now, after having dealt with my car.

What exactly did they replace ?

Is it now standard procedure to replace both hose and O-ring (which seem to be new parts that repladce the older design), or do they try to get by with just the O-ring ?

Is there a service bulletin on this ?

they are replacing the hose and seal on the drivers side (the side which we can see) and they are replacing the seal on the passenger side.

The only reason they are replacing the hose is due to how much contamination it has on it from the oil.

Out of warranty and BMW are giving 50% labour and 80% parts goodwill.

My car did have a PUMA for this fault (but it does only say that the seals need changing to the new designed ones) but not all 335ds have a PUMA for this fault!

What age is your 335D ? Mine is a late 2006.

Might push the garage to fit both and quote a Puma (any numbers ?). Hopefully get my car back the next day as I am immediately heading off to the Le Mans Classic weekend when I get it back.

Anneka can check if you have a puma for your car.

Mine is a 2007, its 2 months out of warranty.

They will probably want it over night.

Unfortunately, I'm in Switzerland. Wonder if Anneka could decipher my VIN ?

My car is out of warranty and the cost to repair was £149.50 and under the £150 goodwill threshold so I didn't get a penny towards the cost. Cost me £40 diagnosis charge aswell, again no goodwill.

£149.50? what parts did they replace? Sounds like just one seal to me for that price.

Guys, can anyone help. Ive just been peering under the bonnet to see if I could even find the red hose to check its oiliness, but for the life of me cannot play snap with the photo on the first post. Can anyone enlighten me - do you need to remove any covers? do I need to look upsidedown? If the engine bay was a clock and Im standing at the front of the car looking at the engine, whereabouts should I be focusing my attention? (12:00 right at the back? 3:00 to the right etc?)

Many thanks!!

Darkee - as above, about 7 o'clock, you'll probably need a torch as it's quite dark if the hose has gone black with oil..

Dave - your VIN Should be all you need, the PUMA will be assigned to it.

From speaking to the service manager who did mine, the seal is the only part listed on the PUMA, but they can buy kits which works out cheaper than buying all the bits seperately so it's worth asking for it if you want to be safe.

Personally I don't get the goodwill thing at all. 50% labour and 80% parts???? What sort of dumb internal budget shuffle is that supposed to facilitate??

Dropped the car off for a new seal and probably hose - did push him on that, but they want to check the old hose.

Got a 320D Xdrive as a loaner. Didn't know they did 4WD 320Ds ..

Big muckle badge on the front wing states xDrive.

Probably not available in the UK :

http://www.bmw.com/com/en/newvehicle...ne/xdrive.html

Drives ok, in fact rides very well on the 16" rims and LCI suspension. Nice and torquey compared to the 320i.
