335is depreciation

Yeah, the 335is as a stock car is rare, but do you think it will hold value, or even appreciate in value, the same way the 1M did? The 1M is truly an exclusive model because it had all kinds of performance bits thrown into it (LSD, suspension, tuned N54, ect.) That thing's resale value has gone up because it would be very hard for someone to take a stock 135 and mod it into a 1M type car. By comparison, the a tuner or proficient DIY modder can take a stock 335 and easily mod it into something that rivals or outperforms the 335is.

Don't get me wrong, I love the 335is and the tuned engine, that's why I bought it. I just wonder if it will hold value and stay exclusive the same way the 1M does? So far it hasn't, but once enough N55 engine cars hit the streets, maybe?
Hi everyone, new to this forum. Just wanted to throw in my thoughts about the potential future value of these cars.
Many years ago I was lucky enough to be able to buy (I didn't say I could afford it) one of my favorite BMWs that didn't require selling your children to buy.
In 1997, I bought a 1988 E24 M635. It was an absolutely fantastic car of which approx 1700 units were made for N.A. between 1985-1988. The sticker on the car in 1988 was $58K. I bought the car for $22K.
Unfortunately, like most vehicles made , they will depreciate. Wish I could have kept it, but high maintenance cost and 13 mpg of premium was hard to swallow that early in my career.

This is great information! Fantastic. I apologize if it's been posted before (I searched without any luck). Are there any differences between 2011 - 2013 335is model years...options, packages, NAV, wheel choices, etc.?

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure all the 335is cars were available with the same option packages regardless of year. When I was searching for mine, I found most were "well optioned" - there are not many stripper 335is's.

Early 2011s came with 19" style 225 wheels. Later 2011s to 2013 came with 19" style 313s.

2013s came standard with smokers package.

Didn't the '13 models also come with that active steering as standard?

i definately want the old-school hydraulic steering. i thought all 335is cars came with hydraulic steering.

regarding the 225M 19" wheels - which years were they offered? Early 2011 only?

225M 19" wheels:

Active steering is still hydraulic on an E9x 335i.

I have active steering, there's still a PS steering fluid reservoir and steering feel is just as good as my E46, actually it's sharper due to my coilovers and 19 inch wheels (18 on the E46).

Yes 2011 only. The MY run for the 2011s was ~18 months long. So not exactly sure when the change was made.

From what I've read they exibited some cracking and BMW transferred over to offering the 313s in 18" and 19".

Mine was produced in June of 2010. I do not have a combox as it was introduced in September 2010 and on builds.

Also, when I bought mine, the owners manual stated it had 335 horsepower and not the 320 hp in the later manuals; it was faster and louder until BMW updated the software in 2011.

So what you're saying is I want a Sept thru Dec 2010 build. More hp and combox.

September 2010 plus will get you a combox but not more horsepower than 320. Mine was detuned to the 320hp along with most others who had their software upgraded.

A combox gave you more features related to your audio system. For example, it gave you Bluetooth streaming audio, Office feature, and BMW Apps option along with other things.

My '13 IS came with active steering, though it was listed as an option. Then again so were floor mats and air conditioning.

Oh it was an option..i see. Pretty sure my '11 didn't have that option.

Mine did come with the 19" 313m as standard though, not the 225m wheels. First I've heard of this combox, wish i got that lol

It can be retrofitted if you want it bad enough.

Awesome thread. Makes me feel even more special about having chosen a 335is. 1 out of 163 isn't too bad, and with mine being a mid-2010 build date, it might have been one of the first to roll of the factory floor!

Wow your home looks awesome! and the car looks great in the driveway too. Is that in New Orleans or in Cali? That roof angle is pretty steep... I'd hate to have to run around on that to clean gutters or fix leaks.
