I think I'm confused. How can these cowl filters produce sound?

They don't produce sounds, they let sound in...

anybody know if these filters can be cleaned or washed? Or do you have to buy new ones once they're old and dirty?

What is the consensus with these and inclement weather? I'll probably transition to these soon but keep using the cowl because of the weather in the midwest. I would think they'd be fine with the cowl.

I have the filters, with no cowl, it rained for 3 straight days, and my car was outside the entire time. A very small amount was on the back of the engine cover, but hardly anywhere else. I'm confident about leaving the cowl off, and just running the filters, but that's just me.

I've been interested in buying these as they'd make changing spark plugs easier. I too was worried about how they'd be in winter/rainy weather.

They've been installed for almost 2 years now (since whenever they first came out) and I've driven with them through massive rain storms and never had an issue. Also washed my car plenty of times with no problems. DME box is sealed so unless you didn't close the lid correctly, you should be fine. I've only ever seen a few drops of water on the box after washing the car, nothing significant.

Same for me, and my car was outside, in a steady downpour for 3 days. Barely any water under the hood. It makes working on the car so much easier.

I just purchased mine, I don't think it'll be an issue since the stock cabin air filter doesn't provide any sort of weather protection.

Does removing the cowl really help evacuate hot engine air? I thought the cowl was an area of high pressure, which is how the old cowl intakes work.

Well I have a 2nd car now so no worry about anything getting wet.
Does the kit come with those screws? I'm missing some.

I doubt it would since it replaces the existing filter using the same screws. But I'll know for sure by Saturday when I get mine. I'd recommend just going to a hardware store and finding some more. They're like $0.25 each.

Nope, just filters. The filters are actually a bit tough to get in, they seal extremely tight, which is a good thing.

How has everything been this winter with these on? I'm probably gonna get them so I don't have to fuck with the cowl every time I need to change plugs/coils.
