March '08 Production Thread

According to my sales rep my car should arrive to the dealership on the 27th, so I guess I am IN ROUTE!! They were killing me with no updates, at least there is a date I can look forward too now! Thanks for all the input and suggestions. It sounds I should be in the Integrity for it to make to the dealership on that date.

The 1800bmwusa 'lady' finally says 'your vehicle is in production ...... completion date is March 27 2008"

maybe they'll finish sooner... hmmm

Ordered mine on March 13th, currently in the bodyshop, with an estimated completion date of March 20th.

No fair! I ordered March 10th and as of today, the helpful automated lady-thinger-person-robot, says it's in the bodyshop with a scheduled completion date of 3/26!

Wonder why yours is getting built so much quicker?!

This wait already SUCKS btw.

his dealer probably found a car that's already scheduled for production earlier than yours, and changed the specs

My CA told me my car was on the Ingolstadt. It left Bremerhaven on the 17th and is scheduled to arrive in Charleston SC on the 27th.

Mine is on the Ingolstadt too....I got word from CA today on an email. Does anybody know how to track K-Line ships???

It's visible on AIS...but once it gets out into the Atlantic, I don't believe you'll be able to see it until it gets close to the American shore. I don't think it's ever tracked on Sailwx as the name of the ship wasn't even listed.

I ordered mine on the 6th, and they told me probably 60 days, with 90 days being possible...

I hear you aboutbeing impatient... I haven't gotten my Production Number yet, and it's driving me crazy... and this is only day 13!!!

weird, i ordered mine on the 6th, and got my production number shortly after that... it actually finished being assembled on the 18th... i'd talk to your CA again...

now car is being transported to the port of exit...

Yeah that's weird, I got a production number the same day... actually a few minutes after they submitted my order to BMW in Germany. I would call your dealer and ask him for it.

I stopped by my dealer, and they had more detailed information than what the robotic lady says over the phone. Like, my car just finished being painted, then the next day or so, it'll be assembled.. finished by the 25th

I grabbed a car that was already slated for production, but was able to make the changes I wanted. I lucked out.

I did too. My dealer (The BMW Store) had one 335i sedan allococation left for March. Apparently your allocation was ahead of mine in line. Oh well, ONLY another 5-6 WEEKS and I'll have it......

Don't complain at least yours has gone into production, I still do not have a production date. I may call my CA tomorrow and see what is up.

I got my production number literally 5 minutes after I shook hands on the deal with my CA. He typed in my order, came back a couple minutes later, looked at the screen, made some 'uh huh, hmmm' noises (like a Dr. normally does right before they tell you that you have 2 weeks to live) and then printed out my order with the production # on it.

Okay, my dealer said they screwed the pooch and forgot to give me my production number. Here's my timeline...

March 6 - Ordered
March 8 - Told them to add some more stuff
March 20 - Got my production number and the 800 number says I'm in body shop
March 26 - Date the 800 number says the car should be done

I think this all means the early May delivery date is still looking good.

I can't believe how worthless the website is. It says "scheduled for production," with the next possible step being "awaiting transport."

I was just about ready to start the April production thread but when I called BMWNA this morning I got a confirmation that my car is going into production next week (Week 13). I guess I will complete out the March production thread here.

This waiting is ridiculous (or I am anyway)... I called again today and now it's in the paint shop. I'll probably do that every day until it's done. I'm looking forward to the ship-tracking part.

You arn't rediculious, I as well as many others on this forum track as much as you do. Its funny the guys who work with my Wife are almost as excited about me getting a new car as I am, they have made car status part of their weekly status meeting at work!
