I have an n51 too I believe from checking a site someone posted to verify, 2009 328i xDrive. Would I just need to get the ECU flashed to a 330i? Thanks!

This has been discussed to great lengths and there is no way to flash the ECU to 330i spec. However, going aftermarket with Active Autowerke or Evolve will bring you up to similar power numbers as a 330i

It'll make a huge difference, my car (N51) came with the 3 stage IM from the factory, and I had it tuned to around 260hp, honestly don't know how I'd drive it stock . . .

Last month I had the 3-stage manifold installed ( a Turner Motorsports kit) and a ECU flash. A few basic mods: charcoal filter delete, a silicone intake tube, the 3-stage and a BMW Perf Exhaust.....should be 260 hp. The real test is how well it drives daily....quick, fun, more power. This is how the car should have been factory set up. I guess it's not a 330 and more than a 328 so it's kinda like a 329. Lot more fun to drive!!

I just had a 3.0 manifold fall into my lap and I'm having it installed along with a Eurobox on Friday.
I have been reading and reading about "post-op" flashes/coding/tunes being "required" to make this manifold work properly/maximally in the 328i and there is some conflicting info out there. My mechanic, who is a master tech BMW mechanic, says that the computer in the 328i should pick up the electronics of the manifold and adapt on its own, without flashes or tunes. In other words, the software is there. I have read posts by others on the forum who were told the same thing by their mechanic when they were contemplating this conversion, but...I have yet to find ONE of these people who did it and followed up with a forum post. So...what is the definitive answer here? Is there one? Seems like there should be. Does the 328i require a reflash or an aftermarket tune to have this manifold operate properly or optimally? OR...does the tune most people get after doing the conversion simply have its own benefits? Thanks! Update: This was posted elsewhere today concerning this topic - "There is no real conflicting info - your mechanic is right in that the manifold will "work" but he's also wrong because it won't work correctly. You need a flash. As I said before, the cars that come with a single stage manifold aren't programmed to open the 3rd stage of the DISA valves. Also, the stock 328/325 tune limits the maximum valve lift, uses a more conservative VANOS map, and runs significantly leaner at full throttle." My response - Thanks for elaborating. So...what are the choices to make it work properly: AA tune, Turner Motorsports tune, and...what else??

There are a few out there. Sure you will get a more specific response soon. However, the turner tune is the AA tune. Which is the one I have with the 3 stage and love it! Do it my friend!

Installed yesterday!!!!
After install I drove it for 25 miles hwy before time was flashed. I initially did not feel a difference. After flashed with AA tune drove it around for 5-10 min. Time will tell, 30 ponies should be very noticeable!!. At what point did everyone start noticing the the power |

Anyone else have faults like mine?
Well, got all of the work done (Eurobox, manifold conversion and AA tune) and LOVED IT...right up 'til the first protection mode event. It has now had 4 of these events, each time throwing the same codes (that are picked...and can be cleared...by the BMWhat app/iPhone.
Has anyone else had this problem...throwing faults that send the car into protection mode after the conversion and a tune? Andrew and the engineer at AA have jumped right on it and are rechecking everything but I'm afraid it's my car, not the tune. Here is a link to the thread I started on this in the Coding section, which may have been the wrong place to post it. The thread gives a little history of the car that may or may not be important. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1109861

Is that what's happening to mine...adaptations taking place? Does the car experience faults or problems like I'm having (above) during this time?

Try clearing adaptations and seeing if that helps. The next step would be cleaing the vanos solenoids - they cause all sorts of wonky problems.
