That burning smell was most likely your tyre, have a look at it when the wheel comes off. When the front coil snapped on mine it end up digging into sidewall which caused a blowout.

I ended up buying a replacement off the dealer in end, just under £300 but I think the part for the 6 cylinder cars is more expensive.

Over the last 12 months I have covered 28,725 Miles, used 2,984 Litres of V Power Diesel and spent £3,882 at the fuel pump.

Averaged around 44 MPG driving up and the M6 and M1, kind of feel...
